Jon Jones has officially been anointed as the greatest fighter of all time, according to the UFC.
On Tuesday night, during the latest episode of Contender Series, the UFC took a break from their usual fight promotions to roll out a special video.
This wasn’t just a plug for an upcoming pay-per-view—it was a full-fledged tribute to heavyweight champion Jon Jones, celebrating him as the best to ever step into the MMA cage.
The video montage is a showcase of Jones’s incredible career, highlighting some of his most memorable moments alongside his record-setting achievements.
Viewers are reminded of Jones’s 15 championship victories, his eight wins against former UFC champions, and his record-setting 20 wins in the UFC light heavyweight division, among other stats. The promo is narrated by the voices of Dana White, Jon Anik, and others, all of whom reaffirm Jones’s status as the greatest fighter in MMA history:

This video is part of a recent push from White, who has been very vocal in his belief that Jones is the greatest of all time. Recently, White’s emphatic claims have become somewhat of a meme, especially as he continues to express frustration over Jones not being recognized as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC’s current rankings.
Over the past few weeks, White has sparred with reporters over the definition of “pound-for-pound” and where Jones belongs in that discussion.
White even hinted that he had a special surprise in store for those who disagreed with him, and during the post-fight press conference on Tuesday night, he seemed particularly pleased with the new promo.
“Did you guys read the stats?” White asked the media. “He just took out the number one heavyweight in the world. I hope you all saw that stat. You know what’s amazing about technology? We’re on the brink of having A.I. handle these rankings, and it’s going to be a fantastic day when that happens. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Despite the UFC’s proclamation, Jones currently sits at No. 3 in the UFC’s pound-for-pound rankings and is ranked No. 8 in the Global MMA pound-for-pound list.
Jones’s last appearance in the octagon was at UFC 285 in March 2023, where he made quick work of Ciryl Gane, submitting him in just over two minutes to claim the vacant heavyweight title.
While it hasn’t been confirmed yet, Jones is rumored to defend his title against former champion Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 309, set for November 16 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
