The UFC’s roster moves continue as Mohammed Usman and Adam Fugitt have both been removed from the organization following very different circumstances.
Mohammed Usman, winner of The Ultimate Fighter Season 30 and younger brother of former champion Kamaru Usman, received a 30-month suspension after testing positive for testosterone in an out-of-competition sample taken last September. Usman also admitted to previous use of BPC-157, a prohibited peptide. While the standard penalty for an anabolic agent is two years, the UFC’s anti-doping partner CSAD extended Usman’s suspension by an additional six months after determining he delayed his admission and provided misleading information to investigators. His suspension is backdated to October 9, 2025, and will run through April 9, 2028. This development sidelines Usman until nearly age 40, removing him from the UFC’s active heavyweight roster.
The removal was officially confirmed shortly after details of his suspension became public. Usman departs the promotion with a 4–2 UFC record and an Ultimate Fighter title that briefly propelled him into the heavyweight spotlight. He publicly addressed the situation, taking responsibility, characterizing his actions as an error in judgment made during recovery, and thanking those who have supported him.
Also released by the promotion is Adam Fugitt, a welterweight competitor who finished his UFC tenure with a 2–4 record. Fugitt’s most recent bout was a knockout loss to Ty Miller at UFC 324, which pushed him to the edge in an increasingly competitive division. Both fighters now enter free agency, with the possibility remaining for a future return if circumstances allow.
Usman’s situation highlights not only the impact of anti-doping rule violations but also the growing importance placed by regulators on truthfulness during investigations. Deceptive conduct led to a stiffer penalty, sending a message to the wider MMA community about the risks of non-compliance. Meanwhile, Fugitt’s release is a reflection of the competitive turnover inherent in the promotion.
For now, both athletes are left to consider their next moves, whether seeking opportunities in other promotions or eventually aiming for a UFC comeback. The UFC continues to navigate an evolving roster as anti-doping enforcement and performance remain in sharp focus.
